Silbermond

With over 6 million recordssold and hundreds of sold-out concerts, Silbermond is one of the most successful bands in Germany today. With their own hymns, the band has laid the foundation for the young pop stars of Germany today. Silbermond is Stefanie Kloß (vocals), Andreas Nowak (drums), and the brothers Johannes (bass) and Thomas Stolle (guitar). From 1998 to today, the four of them have been touring together. Is there an end in sight? No way: With a club tour and two large-scale summer open-airfestivals in 2019 as well as the ARENA TOUR 2020, Silbermond are once again “on the road.”

You’d think that being compared to Den Ärzten would have been the highlight. But 8 studio albums in, several gold and platinum singles later, with over 350 million views on YouTube, countless headliner slots at all the major festivals and more than 130,000 visitors and 22 sold out shows during their last tour, SDP keep leveling up. In 2019 “The Most Famous Unknown Band in the World”is celebrating its 20th anniversary at Berlin’s Wuhlheide together with 17,000 fans and friends, an event which sold out in under 20 days. These two Berlin friends have had an unparalleled independent career, and despite all their success, they have stayed true to themselves.

Alligatoah

Alligatoah is a mystery in many ways. Hes called a rapper, but he often sings. Hes accused of glorifying things, only to renounce them. He seems to come from somewhere, but hasn’t burst out of any local scene! He lets his art do the talking. He moves between genres and isn’t afraid of making waves: he’s often too melodious for rap, and has too many lyrics for mainstream pop. Alligatoah is all about unparalleled uniqueness and continues to prove that popular music doesn’t have to be watered down and conformist; it can be experimental, hardand all about the details.

Fettes Brot

Which other German rap group is bringing protest songs about homophobia and misogyny (Schwule Mädchen) into the Top Ten? Which others express dismay at our lack of compassion when faced with reports of mass migration and assassination(An Tagen wie diesen)? Who else puts fatal overdose ofeel-good drugs front and center (Lass die Finger vom e, Manuela)? Who gives sex dolls a banger to rave to that’s all about the impotence forced on us by the media (Bettina, zieh dir bitte etwas an)? With Lovestory, their ninth studio album,in the can, they’re finally back on the battlefield. We know: they could make a hit just by pulling on their jeans.

Alice Merton

Music and Matthias are words that belong to the same breath—and Schweighöfer has been proving this through his music for film. The single Fliegenfrom his movie Die Nanny was the next milestone in a serious musical career that began in 2017 with the hit “Lachen, Weinen, Tanzen.” He was never going to be a one-hit wonder. He makes the music he wants to hear. The fact that this music happens to strike a nerve with a wide audience is probably classic Schweighöfer. Matthias is looking forward to sharing the PxP Festival stage and backstage with his buddy Nowi, Silbermond’s drummer.

Megaloh

Megaloh has worked with artists as diverse as Seeed, the Beginners, Samy Deluxeand the Stieber Twins. He has played countless concerts, cheered at festivals, unplugged with Max Herre. The Moabiter has achieved a unique status in the German hip-hop scene. Everyone is on board with his music. The rap connoisseurs. The guys on the block. The cool girls. And above all regular people, who can relate all too well to Megaloh’s reports of bone-crushing physical labor, self-doubt, and the feeling of suddenly becoming a parent to someone else’s child.

Chefket

Sevket Dirican, aka Chefket, a rapper and singer with Turkish roots, came up in his hometown of Heidenheim with his band Nil. In 2009 his debut album “Einerseits Andererseits”was released. It’s no surprise that Chefket was given the nickname “Germany’s biggest index finger;” he’s not afraid of facing difficult topics head on. Integration is particularly important to this German Turk.

A good two years after his debut “Harieschaim”, which entered the charts at number 29, won Newcomer of the Year at thePreis für Popkultur (Pop Culture Award)and earned a nomination for the Kritiker-Echo (the critics’Echoaward), after countless festival and club gigs across Europe and, most recently, releasing the single “Keine Angst”(No Fear) together with Casper, Max Gruber’s “Zores” finally dropped in 2018. From his debut album “Harieschaim” on, it was clear that Gruber is not only a vehement artist and talented musician, but also a huge music fan.

Whether I play in for four people or 1,000I do it out of love, and because I’ve always been making songs,” Lea says about her passion for the stage. Since the Kassel-born artist exploded on YouTube at the age of 15, she’s been racking up career milestones: The song Leiserhas become a German radio anthem, her ode to friendship Zu Dir,”released in Junehas more than 10.2 million views on YouTube. The next big step was hersecond album Zwischen meinen Zeilen”, which was released on September 14th and climbed to number 6 in the charts.

Die Orsons

10 years ago, by chance, four young, ingenious, very good-looking and very hungry MCs met in a studio in Swabia. As it is, when geniuses meet, four days later there was “The Album”. The parody of an entire scene that took itself too seriously. Dada meets Rap meets four friends who don’t let you tell them anything and who turn their insider jokes into an album. Deutschrap reacted allergic, the Hooligans of Love frenetic. Indie-chart successes, radio plays on Hot97, props from Souljah Boy Tell`Em and tours with Fettes Brot and Herbert Grönemeyer. 2015 followed with “What’s Goes”, the best album of the Die Orsons up to that time, which went straight to number 2 of the German Charts. An album that perfectly reflects The Orsons: clever, musical, cool, funny, thoughtful, lovingly, cynical, absurd, honest – and above all: unique. But 10 years is a long time. Especially for a fragile construct like The Orsons. And don’t forget: Boybands separate sometime. Who knows how long you will have the chance to see this unique band live.

Lary

Lary

Hart fragil. The title of Lary’s current album indulges him: the contrast. If you watch the singer, you will see what it could mean: Lary is an artist who combines swag, charm and depths in her own special way. She is instagram and poetics. Hedonism and moderation. Sometimes a loner, sometimes in the middle. She sometimes sings strong, sometimes fragile. She cheers on Schalke 04 from corner pubs and afterwards attends dinner parties in a cocktail dress. She is “always somewhere between black and white”. Lary has learned that only honest variance is authentic. On “hart fragil” Lary tells about life, about her life. And anyone who listens to her songs can project their own film of life onto it, identify with it in nuances – and that’s exactly what we carry so many in us.

Alli Neumann

Twenty-something Alli Neumann says: Pop music that’s lovely, peaceful and chill about everything except heartache was all right for a while, but it’s time for a change. Time for pop that asks something of us. Pop that shows what she stands for. But you know, this doesn’t mean she can’t still sing about being lovesick. Alli says what you’re hearing on her first two EPs, released in fall2018 and spring 2019, is “Alternative Pop.”

Ilira

ILIRA is considered the greatest discovery in contemporary pop music. The four-octave wonder ascended the pop throne with her virtuoso vocal acrobatics and made herself at home there with catchy hooks and clever lyrics. Since her debut single Whisper My Name,” Ilira has been surrounded by unstoppable international hype. This exceptional talent is on everyone’s radar. In addition to her powerful voice, her self-described glitter-urban pop stylings, sharp lyricsand wild outfits are her trademarks.

Nico Santos

With his megahit “Rooftop” Nico Santos literally shot through the ceiling in 2017. After a very short time, the Top 5 track won a Platinum Award for more than 400,000 units sold and 75 million streams in Germany and Austria. It is hardly surprising that the 26-year-old singer/songwriter appears on his new album as a wanderer between the genres Rock, HipHop, Neo Soul, Pop, Rock and R’n’B; as one who does not want to be determined at all. He describes his debut album as “a diary set in music since 2014”. His five-piece band consists of street musicians, because “I seek proximity to the street. For me the street is the place of truth”. And this is perhaps Nico Santos’ very own way, which distinguishes him from all his role models, because the street of gold is his street, because “the street is the goal, not the goal itself”.
